Dear Subscribers,
First of all, I can’t thank you enough for reading my research and being along for the ride - it has been an incredibly fulfilling year for personal growth and development as an investor. I started the blog earlier in the year as a result of encouragement from friends (Andrew Walker from YAVB, among others), and I have thoroughly enjoyed writing every post since then.
I have decided to begin a new chapter of my professional career. I recently accepted a job offer at Philosophy Capital as a full-time investment analyst, and will be starting in January 2022. Philosophy was founded by Jacob Rubin in 2020 after a successful career at Lone Star Capital, and employs a L/S approach in both equities and credit. While the fund has a flexible mandate, there is a particular focus on deep value and special situations, which fits in perfectly with my own personal investment philosophy (no pun intended).
What does this mean for the Plum Capital Blog?
As you can probably expect, I will have to operate fully under the firm’s compliance policies on discussion of securities on the public domain. I do hope to share more ideas in the future under Philosophy Capital’s purview but that will be an ongoing discussion and I will be happy to update you at the right time.
So… this is the end, right?
Absolutely not! One of my favorite things about running the blog was connecting with fellow investors and sharing / discussing / debating ideas. I encourage everyone to contact me via email or twitter as per usual - once I start at Philosophy, I will be ever more in demand for compelling, actionable investment ideas - and this time I will have the luxury of working for a rapidly growing institutional firm - we have capital to deploy! Please don’t hesitate to get in touch - I don’t care if you are a senior PM at a big fund, or a small-time retail investor - if you have good ideas, let’s chat!

So my latest idea, $UAN, was a bit of a parting gift to subscribers (it’s my biggest position and top idea, for the time being!) until I have further clarity on how things will develop in the future. Hope you have had a chance to review it, will leave a link below:
I’d like to learn more about Philosophy Capital. What can I do?
You’re in luck! Our founder and PM, Jacob Rubin, will be going on Andrew Walker’s Yet another Value Podcast, to discuss some top ideas - $FTAI and $GLNG. I am of course totally biased, but have found the ideas to be very compelling. Don’t miss the episode, it’s going to be a banger!
Again, thanks for being a subscriber to the Plum Capital Blog. Appreciate every one of you and speak soon.
Sincerely,
Leo Kang
Congratulations on your new job and thanks for your investing posts - it's always useful to see pro-level, detailed ideas like yours.
Just a quick note to say that I've really appreciated the Substack and wish you the best in your new venture!
